WHAT IS A BIOSTIMULANT?
A plant biostimulant is any substance applied to plants able to enhance nutrition efficiency, abiotic stress tolerance and/or crop quality traits.
Protein hydrolysates (PHs) are a class of plant biostimulants containing a
mixture of polypeptides, oligopeptides, and amino acids derived from protein sources using partial hydrolysis.
Nowadays,
PHs obtained by agro-industrial
by-products represent a sustainable solution to the problem of waste disposal,
making their production an invaluable resource for both the environment and the economy.
WHY VEGETAL-DERIVED PROTEIN HYDROLYSATES?
The growing restrictions on the use of animal-derived PHs in food crops (Regulation (EU) n. 354/2014 ) along with the high efficacy of vegetal-derived PHs make these products an innovative and interesting resource for sustainable crop production.
